R. Richard Leinhardt, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Chief Surgeon/Chief Medical Officer – New York Dept. of Corrections

Dr. Leinhardt is a board certified otorhinolaryngologist, facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He has specialty board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Leinhardt received his Medical Degree from University of Brussels, Belgium. He was Chief ENT Facial Plastic Surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear, & Throat Hospital in New York; more cosmetic surgery procedures are performed each year at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital than any other institution in the world.

He also served as Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at Lincoln Hospital-New York Medical College. Dr. Leinhardt is an Associate Clinical Professor Emeritus of Otolaryngology at New York Medical College. He served as Chief Surgeon for the New York City Transit Police Department, and Hon. Chief Surgeon for the NYPD. He also serves as Surgeon for the Drug Enforcement Administration New York Field Division, and Chief Surgeon/Chief Medical Officer of the New York Department of Corrections. Dr. Leinhardt was appointed to the Medical Malpractice Panel of the Supreme Court of the State of New York and is also on Mayor Bloomberg’s September 11th Health and Advisory Panel. Dr. Leinhardt helps survivors and NYC rescue workers of September 11th with respiratory and breathing problems.

Dr. Leinhardt was a first responder at the World Trade Center on 9/11. He received the 1st NY POST Liberty Medal for Lifetime Achievement in 2002 presented by Mayor Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion for his efforts. Dr. Leinhardt has been continually named as one of the top plastic surgeons in the country by a myriad of publications.

Mr. Landis is also part owner of the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Vikings. He and his wife, Amy, reside in New York City with their four children; Matthew, Chloe, Charlotte and Annabelle.
